Choosing a hearing aid is not simple; it is a decision that directly impacts your brain, body, and overall health. Many people look for cheap but good-quality devices; however, there are no high-quality hearing aids that are truly cheap.
Major hearing aid manufacturers spend more than half a billion USD per year on research and development (R&D) to improve software and technology.
Recently, there have been many instant, low-cost hearing aids on the market, mostly produced in China. However, you should be careful when purchasing these basic devices.
A hearing aid is not a toy; it becomes an essential part of your auditory system, supporting how you perceive and interact with the world. For example, students may feel afraid of social gatherings, and their behavior may become more withdrawn. Similarly, business professionals may lose confidence and trust in the workplace.
That’s why careful consideration is crucial when selecting the right device.
1. Start with Professional Testing and Consultation
Before choosing any hearing aid, a complete hearing test and consultation with a professional audiologist are essential. Every individual’s hearing loss is different, and only a qualified audiologist can recommend the most suitable hearing aid based on test results.
2. Choose the Right Hearing Aid
There is no “one-size-fits-all” hearing aid. The best device is the one that matches your:
Type and level of hearing loss
Lifestyle and budget
Since World War II, hearing aids have made remarkable progress in sound quality and size. However, there is still no perfect hearing aid that can fully replicate the natural ear.
Among the many options available in the market, there are four major leading hearing aid manufacturers:

Switzerland – Sonova Group (Phonak, Unitron, Vista, Hansaton) Established in 1947, Sonova is one of the oldest hearing aid manufacturers, known for its high quality. Vista hearing aids use similar technology to Phonak (the parent company) but at a more competitive price.

Denmark – Demant Group (Oticon, Sonic, Bernafon) Known for powerful performance and advanced noise control technology at competitive prices. Sonic and Bernafon have introduced powerful CIC and RIC devices with smart noise control features.

Denmark – WS Audiology (Audio Service, Widex) Audio Service (formerly Siemens) is well known for ultra-power, cost-effective BTE hearing aids.

USA – Starkey (NuEar, Microtech) Starkey is known for innovation and has introduced AI-powered hearing aids, including small, rechargeable CIC devices.
Even though a hearing aid (HA) may be of high quality, if the software fitting is not done properly, you will not be satisfied with the results. It is similar to a car: even if you buy a high-performance sports car, it will not be helpful if your driving skills are poor.
Therefore, it is important to choose a hearing aid center that has experienced audiologists or hearing specialists.
In Vietnam, there are only a few hearing aid centers that have been established for more than 20 years and are authorized distributors of world-leading hearing aid brands.
Stella Hearing Aids Center is a highly recommended option, as it meets all of these qualifications.
